What would make Toronto a greener place? Bring your ideas to the daylong launch of the third installment in Coach House Books' enormously popular uTOpia series, GreenTOpia: Towards A Sustainable Toronto, for two in-depth and interactive panel discussions on the future of environmentalism in the GTA - a This Is Not A Reading Series event in three acts presented by Pages Books & Magazines, Coach House Books and EYE WEEKLY.

ACT ONE

The afternoon's events at the Gladstone Hotel will centre around two interactive panel discussions moderated by Misha Glouberman, featuring numerous GreenTOpia contributors. Attendees are encouraged to bring their thoughts and ideas. And be sure to bring an item for the freecycle swap table. Bring something you no longer want; walk home with something you do! GreenTOpia: Towards A Sustainable Toronto: In the third volume in the uTOpia series, GreenTOpia: Towards A Sustainable Toronto, co-edited by Jonny Dovercourt, Christina Palassio and Alana Wilcox, dozens of imaginative Torontonians think big and small about the issue of sustainability. From suggestions for changes to our transit system to a tongue-in-cheek proposal for a painted line around the city, GreenTOpia challenges the city and its residents to rethink what it means to be green in a metropolis, and how to take their love of the city one green step further. GreenTOpia features photos, maps and a 56-page green directory of resources, organizations, incentives and programs promoting sustainability in the GTA.

Jonny Dovercourt was born Jonathan Bunce in Scarborough, Ontario. He is currently co-artistic director of the Music Gallery in Toronto. Dovercourt co-founded the Wavelength music series and zine, and has written for Eye Weekly and MusicWorks. He has been a member of numerous Toronto independent rock bands, most recently, Republic of Safety.

Christina Palassio is the managing editor of Coach House Books. She co-edited The State of the Arts: Living with Culture in Toronto, and has written for the Globe and Mail, the Montreal Gazette and Matrix Magazine.

Alana Wilcox is the senior editor of Coach House Books, where she co-founded the uTOpia series. She also serves as the past chair of the Literary Press Group and is the author of a novel, A Grammar Of Endings (Mercury Press).
