Chris Gudgeon’s "Song of Kosovo" Book Launch

With Halloween in the air, suspend your disbelief, or your beliefs, for Use Your Allusion -- an evening of music, magic and literary mayhem featuring:
Bryan Potvin, “Magic” Mike Segal, Kathryn Kuitenbrouwer, Lee Gowan, Chris Gudgeon

These talented individuals come together to illuminate the relationship between Reality and Illusion in storytelling as they celebrate the launch of Chris Gudgeon’s Song of Kosovo.

Monday, October 29th, 2012 – 7:00pm
The Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen St West, Toronto
Admission: $5 or FREE with book purchase

How better than to gear up for Halloween with reality altering acts by, "Magic" Mike Segal, whose performed across the world, designed magic and illusions for film and television and worked with celebrities Richard Dreyfuss, Siegfried & Roy and Ringo Starr; vocalist and acclaimed songwriter Bryan Potvin from the well-loved Canadian rock band The Northern Pikes and Kathryn Kuitenbrouwer, whose storytelling captures readers in many forms and whose book The Nettle Spinner was shortlisted for the Amazon.ca/Book in Canada First Novel Award.

This intermingling of magic, music, and storytelling will be moderated by Lee Gowan, celebrated author of The Last Cowboy and winner of three screenwriting awards for his screenplay of the television movie, Paris or Somewhere. Joining the illusory mayhem is best selling author and screenwriter Chris Gudgeon.

Gudgeon’s first novel Song of Kosovo has been praised as profound and witty. He exposes the human experience like never before, lacing together strands of Balkan mythology and history and stringing them through the life of a man who only wants to live out his days with the woman he loves.

Blurring the distinction between truth and fiction, Gudgeon compels us to examine both the stories that we tell ourselves, and those we tell others. This evening proves to do the same.
